Types of Sedation

At Creditview Dental, we offer a variety of sedation options for patients. Your dentist can help determine if sedation is right for you and which option will best suit your needs. 

• Nitrous Oxide

  Nitrous oxide (or laughing gas) is inhaled through the nose. The medication aims to calm patients even though they remain awake and are able to communicate. It can also help to lessen anxiety, increase pain threshold, reduce gag reflex and make time pass more quickly. 

• Oral Sedation

  Oral sedatives are pills or liquids prescribed by your dentist and taken orally. The medication is designed to leave you awake for the procedure but can significantly relax you.

• IV Sedation

  IV sedatives are administered directly into the bloodstream through the vein for the deepest level of sedation without general anesthesia. IV sedatives may be used for long or complex procedures. Our dental team will attach you to a monitor so we can keep track of your vital signs during the procedure.
